Doula's are not Experts on Breastfeeding
Unless of course she has received more education and certifications on breastfeeding. However, it is important to have some basic knowledge of how breastfeeding works and how to support mom with the first breastfeeding if she requires help.

Protecting the Family's Space
Doula's can provide a great service to the new family as they get to know each other in those first hours after birth, by protecting their space and allowing them the time to be alone together.
